SPAIN, A COUNTRY IN DOUBLE CRISIS

Numerous wildfires have broken out in Spain during the last couple of weeks. Fires have broken out because it has been incredible hot and sweltering. People have got hurt and people have died. Seven people have died; three firefighters and four civilians. 149,300 hectares of forest and countryside have been destroyed. This is 577 square miles and it will take many years before the forest and the land will be the in same condition that it was before the fire. People say that Spain is suffering the worst summer of wildfires in over a decade.

Devastation after wildfires

Spain is a country in southern Europe. Spain borders to France in the north, the Mediterranean Sea and Gibraltar in south and east and by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean in west. The climate is hot and Spain is a very popular tourist destination. The country has big financial problems and young newly graduated young people can't find any place to work.

Both wilfires and the financial problems can influence the tourist industry in Spain and have an impact on the economy.

When I wrote this news article I needed to use some online dictionaries. The one I liked the most was perhaps the online Merriam Webster Dictionary (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary). It is simple, well organized and it is possible to listen to the words you search for.

I wrote about this topic because I have been in Spain several times and I have seen at least two small wildfires. Spain is in trouble and rich countries like Norway should help Spain through this crisis.

LIVING IN NORWAY

Norway is one of the Nordic countries and we have everything from seas to high mountains. I live and I was born in Norway. When I think of Norway, I think of the four very different seasons that come every year. The winter in Norway can be very cold and it comes lots of snow. People goes skiing and does other winter activities. The spring in Norway is my favorite season. Everything gets lighter and lighter and the sun stays longer and longer up in the sky. The ice and all the snow melts and all the flowers are peeking out.  It gets warmer and warmer outside and suddenly, it's almost summer. The summer is also beautiful in Norway. Students, children and parents have vacation and families spend more time together. I think the autum in Norway can be pretty sad. The reason that I think so is because you know that it will get darker and darker outside. And colder and colder and quickly the summer will seem far, far away. People that comes from for example Africa, thinks often that ice bears are walking around in the streets when they think of Norway. That's not quite right.

The picture above is Noways highest mountain and it's called "Galhøgpiggen". I was there with my old class when I was twelve years old.
